John A. Zivnuska (July 10, 1916 – Nov. 18, 2002)
John joined the forestry faculty in 1948 and served as Dean of the School
of Forestry and Conservation from 1965-1974. He was Professor of Forest
Economics and the author or co-author of 190 publications in forest resource
evaluation, forest taxation, international forestry, and forestry education.
On his retirement in 1982 John was awarded the Berkeley Citation.
Edward C. Stone (Nov. 28, 1917 – Jan. 11, 2003)
Ed joined the forestry faculty in 1949 and was Professor of Forest Ecology.
He developed techniques of evaluating root growth capacity for determining
the vigor of nursery stock and later studied uneven-aged forest structures
to derive optimal spacing. On his retirement in 1988 Ed was awarded the
Berkeley Citation.
